Betsy Williamson nominated for ‘Female Entrepreneur of the Year’ Award

- 31-Mar-2014

EDINBURGH, Scotland, 31 March 2014 – Betsy Williamson, Managing Director of leading independent recruiter Core-Asset Consulting, has been shortlisted for the ‘Female Entrepreneur of the Year’ award at this year’s forthcoming Scottish Business Awards.

The judging panel has recommended Betsy based on her 'inspiring leadership of Scotland’s leading independently-owned recruitment business'. The panel has also cited the recent growth of Core-Asset’s financial services division and noted Betsy’s business achievements as being an inspiration to other women looking to forge a successful career.

Criteria for the award nomination also included evidence of growth and success, improved market share, customer satisfaction, and a successful launch or continued programme of product or service development. This nomination follows last year’s ‘highly commended’ shortlisting for the ‘Financial Services Company of the Year’ award.

Louise Powrie, Director of Financial Services at Core-Asset Consulting, said:

“I’ve had the pleasure to work with Betsy for the last fourteen years. Throughout that time she’s always been an inspirational figure, a driven individual whose strategic abilities are matched only by her obsessive attention to detail.

“When she set up Core-Asset Consulting in 2005, there was never any question that the business would be anything other than a success. When Betsy sets her mind to something, she achieves it. Core-Asset is in many ways the corporate embodiment of Betsy’s own personal qualities – professional, highly knowledgeable and people-driven. This nomination is fitting recognition of her achievements to date.”

Betsy Williamson, Managing Director of Core-Asset Consulting, said:

“It’s always flattering to receive personal recognition, but this nomination should really apply to the whole team at Core-Asset. Having a vision of a business you want to build is one thing, but you need the support and hard work of others to achieve it.

“By buying in to what I wanted to create – a recruitment business built on people, service and ethics, not fees, targets and internal competition – the company’s continuing success is the result of the commitment of everyone at Core-Asset Consulting, not just me. As a result, I’d like to extend this nomination to the rest of the team.”

About the Scottish Business Awards
This year’s Scottish Business Awards, to be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Monday 12th May, is expected to be the largest formal dinner gathering in Scottish history. It will break a record held since 1567 by the coronation of King James VI, with 2000 leading business figures, representing over £1 billion of turnover coming together for the evening.

This also makes it by far the biggest business event in the UK this year, including all London based events. The event will feature an audience with legendary entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and will be hosted by the A-List comedian Michael McIntyre. Last year's guest list included Sir Tom Hunter, Sir Brian Souter, Sir Jackie Stewart, Alex Salmond, Michelle Mone and Jim McColl. www.scottishbusinessawards.co.uk
